What Makes Tallow Different From Plant Oils

Plant oils can be wonderful skincare ingredients—but tallow is in a category of its own.
Unlike most plant oils, tallow closely mimics the lipid structure of human skin. That’s why it absorbs so well and doesn’t leave skin feeling greasy or coated when properly formulated.
Many people struggle with dryness because their skin barrier is compromised. Tallow helps reinforce that barrier rather than temporarily masking the issue. It doesn’t clog pores—it supports balance.
When I blend tallow with complementary oils like jojoba or squalane, the goal is synergy. Each ingredient has a purpose. Nothing is added “just because.”
Tallow isn’t about replacing plant oils—it’s about restoring balance.
